- Current weather conditions are often plotted on our StormLab Pro NWS NEXRAD radar image. When they are present, temperature is usually yellow, dewpoint is lime green, wind speed is aqua (blue/green), and current weather icons at a particular location may also appear which show rain as small dots near the current temperature and a red R with an arrow for thunderstorms. Wind direction and speeds are indicated by an icon with a flag and arrow icon denoting the wind speed and direction, and occasionally wind gusts may be posted, which will usually be in a light red.
- Day 1 Severe Weather Outlooks from the Storm Prediction Center (SPC) may also be plotted on the map at times. These will show as an orange outline when there is a Moderate Risk of severe weather forecast over the area, and a red outline when there is a High Risk. Additional outlines for enhanced severe threat will include a title around the outline, and include an orange outline for 15% or greater tornadic risk, a light blue outline for 15% or greater wind damage risk, and a pink outline for 15% or greater hail risk.
- Mesoscale Convective Discussion (MCD) areas of concern are plotted on the radar map as a purple outline. These are areas the SPC is particularly monitoring due to heavy rain/snow or severe weather possibilities.
- Funnel cloud and tornado reports from NWS Local Storm reports over the past hour may be displayed as icons which will become faded as they are less recent.
- Lightning may be plotted on the map during severe weather. The larger the icon, the more recent the strike. The greater the number of lightning bolts shown, the more frequent the lightning is. White strikes are always more recent than yellow.
- Severe Thunderstorm watches are indicated by a yellow polygon outline, and also will feature a thick white border for PDS (Particularly Dangerous Situation) watches.
- Tornado watches are indicated by an orange polygon outline, and also will feature a thick white border for PDS (Particularly Dangerous Situation) watches.
- Flash Flood Warnings are indicated by a bright green polygon covering a county or several county area.
- Severe Thunderstorm Warnings are indicated by a bright yellow polygon covering a county or several county area. These are easy to differentiate from watches as their areal coverage is much smaller and the outlines are much more distinct.
- Tornado Warnings are indicated by a bright red polygon covering a county or several county area which shows the exact outline of the warning area. The background of the entire county or counties included in a tornado warning may also turn a red color if another backup source is turned on.
