The storm that damaged the roof of a New Albany business last Friday has been determined to have caused been by a classic downburst storm...not by a tornado. Service hydrologist...mike Callahan...interviewed several eyewitnesses of the damage occurring. Boat personnel of an Ohio River craft observed a tornado touchdown just prior to the Tornado Warning issuance. Actually it was a waterspout in first touching down on the river. No damage was reported from this...as Learned in discussions with Jefferson County emergency management. Damage in the springhurst area of Jefferson County was done...in part...by a small F1 tornado. Lead forecaster...Joe ammerman... conducted an official storm survey Saturday morning.
