120 PM EDT Sat Oct 5 2002 ...Friday evening tornado in Louisville Metro area... National Weather Service meteorologist...Joe ammerman...surveyed storm damage from storms that Friday evening knocked down trees and tore roofs off several homes. His conclusion was that a tornado touched down briefly in the springhurst section of Jefferson County. The F1 tornado tore a roof off a house...drove two-by-fours into the ground and knocked down a number of trees. Previously tornados from the same system touched down briefly in New Albany Indiana and at locations adjacent to the Ohio River. In addition damage was also reported from straight-line winds in areas adjacent to the tornado paths. Tornado development was part of an intense upper level weather system that followed the remnants of Hurricane Lili. By Saturday morning skies had cleared in central Kentucky and south central Indiana...and temperatures had cooled into the typical 50s. Reitmeyer
