...Tornado damage investigated today...



The National Weather Service Indianapolis office...working with the 

Indiana National guard and state emergency management agency... 

conducted aerial and ground surveys of the September 20 tornados.  



One thunderstorm produced at least three tornados...an F2 near 

Poseyville...an F2 near Monroe City and a long lived tornado 

tracking from near Ellettsville through Indianapolis to north of 

Anderson. The greatest damage along this path...was found near 

Ellettsville...Martinsville...Greenwood...Southport and Beech Grove 

and was rated F3. F1 damage was found in McCordsville...the west 

side of Anderson and near Alexandria. Sporadic F0 to F1 damage  was 

found northeast of Alexandria to near Hartford City.   



In southwest Indiana...Poseyville was struck by an F2 tornado. A 

separate tornado from the same storm cell produced F2 damage in the

Monroe City area. This tornado tracked into extreme west central 

Daviess County before lifting.
